Optimal Performance Training
Ken Johnson is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Designed exclusively by NASM, Optimum Performance Training (OPT) is a systematic and integrated (total-body) training, reconditioning and rehabilitation program that can be used with any person. By incorporating six types of training-flexibility, cardiorespiratory, core, balance, power and strength-into every program, the OPT method improves all biomotor abilities and builds high levels of functional strength, neuromuscular efficiency and dynamic flexibility.
In other words, it's about more than just lifting weights....
All clients begin with a comprehensive and individualized assessment. Based on your unique needs, a personalized training program is designed. Most clients will start with Integrated Stabilization Training; however, those new to exercise or recovering from injuries will start with Corrective Exercise Training. After developing core strength and dynamic stabilization, you will move into the strength and power phases based on your goals.
Regardless of which phase you are in, your workout will follow the same general pattern:
- Myofascial Release (Self Massage)
- Flexibility Exercises
- Short period of Cardio work
- Core Stabilization Training
- Neuromuscular Stabilization Training (Balance)
- Reactive Neuromuscular Training (Power)
- Strength Exercises (weights)
- Cool down with Flexibility Exercises
3-Fitness offers both "live" (Chicagoland area) and online e-training schedules. The Optimal Performance Training program is structures so that it does not necessarily require you to do your workouts at a health club or fitness facility. You can workout at home with the proper equipment.
